Indian Railway Gives Career Oppourtunity

 Indian railway has become the largest jobs creator which is providing thousands of jobs to the people since it came into existence. It has been found that over 1.5 million people are directly or indirectly employed by the Indian railways. In fact, people have realized that a career in Indian railways looks promising and rewarding. Railway provides high job security to all its employees. In this sector, there are four groups of employees; group A, group B, group C and group C as well. Group A employees are usually ranked higher up than the other groups; group D, the most lowest position is meant for officers of lower rank.

People willing to become officer have to undergo tests conducted by UPSC, SCRA, IRAS and IRTS and once cleared they will be considered under Group ‘A’.  For Group ‘B’ category it requires no specific exams; as they are directly promoted from group ‘’C’.  Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) also recruits the employees of Group’C’ and Group ‘D’.

Division of Railway Departments

For administration purpose, the Indian Railways has been divided into different zonal divisions. Each zone has its own division having different technical and non technical departments. For technical purpose various staffs are recruited from civil, electrical and mechanical engineering followed by telecommunication. The non technical department consists of personal management, railway protection force, defense and accounts.

Remuneration of Technical department

Group ‘A’ employees can draw salary ranging from Rs. 9300-34800. The various posts for Group’A’ are as follows:
Projects/assistant manager
Assistant Manager/IT
Draughtsman
DCOS
Senior Material manager
Assistant Material  Manager and
Assistant controller officer



Remuneration of Non Technical department

Group A category consisting of General Managers, Deputy COS and Controller of stores usually draw pay scale of Rs. 15600–67000.

Individual coming under group ‘B’ consisting Office Assistant, Personal Assistant, Vigilance, Private Secretary, draw pay scale ranging from Rs. 9300 – 34800.

Head clerk, senior clerk and junior clerk and various employees of group ‘C’, office superintendent, UDC and LDC their pay scale starts from Rs. 5,200- 20,200.

The career in railway is very lucrative as the railway department provides every possible facility like quarter, travel allowances, gratuity and pension to the retired ones after their long services
