Cherry juice Improve Sleep soundly Time

ITS researchers from the School of Life Sciences at Northumbria University have found that drinking cherry juice may help us get extra time sleep quality for 25 minutes per night.

Their research also found that people who regularly consume cherry juice to get improved quality of sleep, according to the Telegraph report. Noted the researchers, cherry juice significantly increased levels of melatonin in the body, the hormone that regulates sleep. This finding is certainly beneficial for those who have trouble sleeping because of the work, insomnia, or jet lag.

In a study led by Dr Glyn Howatson, 20 healthy volunteers drank 30 ml of juice, cake, and cherry-based placebo twice daily for seven days.

Overall participant urine samples were collected before and then during the study to determine the level of melatonin, a natural compound that greatly affects human sleep and wake cycles.

The team of researchers led by Dr Glyn Howatson find a group of participants who drank cherry juice for a week experienced a significant increase in melatonin.

Based on actigraphy measurements, see the participants who ate the cherry juice have increased sleep time approximately 15 minutes, 25 minutes total sleep time, and 5-6 percent improvement in their sleep efficiency. These findings will be published in November 2011 this week in the online edition of the European Journal of Nutrition.
